NEDA is dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by eating disorders and promoting prevention, treatment, and recovery. Their funds and donations go into researching to improve understanding and treatment of eating disorders as well as offering support and guidance to individuals and families struggling with eating disorders. They also advocate for policies and practices that support early intervention and access to quality care to improve understanding and treatment of eating disorders.

Anorexia nervosa has the highest mortality rate of any psychiatric illness. 1 person dies every 52 minutes as a direct result of an eating disorder. This isn’t about looks, it’s about survival. In a world obsessed with “skinniness,” eating disorders are often overlooked, glamorized, or misunderstood.-

Comments like: “Wow, you’ve lost weight.”“You’re so lucky you’re naturally skinny.”“I was such a bigback today,I ate a cookie.”“You don’t look like you have an eating disorder.”May seem innocent, but they can be so insanaly triggering. You never know who’s silently struggling.- Social media and diet culture preaches to us that thin = healthy, worthy, successful. But honestly, you can’t tell someone’s health by their body, eating disorders don’t “look” a certain way ie they affect all bodies, genders, races, and ages.-

Please let’s break the cycle and stop idolizing influencers who promote disordered eating as “wellness.” let’s end the glorification of “what I eat in a day” videos.

Choose compassion over comparison, nourishment over numbers, and healing over appearance. We need to stop shrinking ourselves to fit into these “idolized beauty standards” that were never meant to include us.-

Stop praising hunger as discipline and letting diet culture tell us our worth. Your body is not the problem, society is and together, we can change it.

RECVOVERY IS POSSIBLE!!Share this with anyone who is struggling or honestly to anyone in general, this is important information that deserves to be spread.
